Marriage is a journey of two people learning to walk together in love, respect, and faith. Over the past few weeks on the Building Better Marriages podcast, we’ve been talking about unity and how to bridge the gap between a husband’s needs and a wife’s needs. Today, I get to take that conversation one step further in a very personal way — by inviting my husband to join me on the podcast.
This is more than just an interview. It’s a glimpse into our marriage — the joys, the challenges, the lessons we’ve learned along the way, and the ways God continues to shape us as husband and wife.
Why His Voice Matters
Ephesians 5:33 (NLT) says, “So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
For weeks, you’ve heard me share my heart as a wife, a counselor, and a coach. But today, you’ll hear directly from my husband — the man who has been my partner, encourager, and best friend for decades. His perspective matters because marriage was never designed to be lived out with only one voice leading the way. True unity requires both voices, both hearts, and both stories.
What We’ll Talk About
In our conversation, we’ll share:
- How our different personalities and temperaments shape our marriage.
- The challenges we’ve faced and how God helped us grow through them.
- The importance of love and respect in daily life.
- Why prayer and faith are at the center of our relationship.
- The laughter, grace, and forgiveness that hold us together.
We won’t sugarcoat it. Marriage is beautiful, but it also takes work. And our hope is that by sharing honestly, you’ll see that you’re not alone in your own struggles — and that with God, you too can build a strong and lasting marriage.
Why This Matters for You
Hearing from both of us is important because it reflects the heart of God’s design. Husbands and wives don’t just bring different needs to the marriage; they bring different strengths, different voices, and different perspectives that are meant to complement each other.
Our prayer is that this episode gives you hope, encouragement, and practical wisdom to take into your own marriage. Whether you’re newlyweds or have been married for decades, there’s always more to learn and new ways to grow together.
I Do & I Don’t
- I Do lean into unity by listening to both voices in the marriage.
- I Don’t assume my perspective is the only one that matters.
