Happy half-way through summer!

Taking time for some self-care? Sit with me for a little while and let’s talk.

Over the weekend I helped out at a healing conference. Attendees waited in anticipation to learn how to get unstuck. What did they learn? That it was fear.

They were there to move forward to live a life they love.

What was next for them?

Identifying their core fear and replace it with God’s truth.

Do you want to get unstuck? Let’s figure out what your core fear is.

How would you describe it? Worry, anxiety, nervousness, anger and maybe even restlessness to name a few? You wouldn’t be far off the point except that they are the symptoms of the underlining cause. Surface issues seem easier to deal with rather than the underlying issue but understanding it, gave direction on how to move past it.

Surface issues show up as: “I know, I worry too much” or “I’m anxious about …..” without even thinking twice about the words you used? Using these words, allowed fears to dig deep roots into your thinking when it is your faith that needs to be deeply rooted and grounded in God’s truth.

First decision- Are you a person of faith or a person of fear? Fear is not from God.

If yes to the first, then the second decision- How do you move forward?

Identify the core fear:

  • powerlessness
  • abandonment
  • disconnected
  • failure
  • unloved
  • inferior
  • isolation

Now it is time to replace our core fears with God’s truth.

  • Powerlessness with “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.” 2Timothy 1:7 NKJV
  • Abandonment with “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them (whatever you fear), for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:16 NIV
  • Disconnected with “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18 NIV
  • Failure with “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” Psalm 37:23-24NIV
  • Unloved with “You love each other because he loved us first.” 1John 4:19 NLT
  • Inferior with “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:8 ESV
  • Isolation with “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you,” James 4:8a NKJV

What do you do now? Follow your plan to:

  • Know who you are in Christ
  • Pray to know your God-given plan and purpose
  • Be aware of your words- use words that bring blessing and not curses
  • Renew your mind everyday with the word of God
  • Be kind to yourself and to others
  • Forgive and/or ask for forgiveness
  • Have a loving prayer partner

Getting unstuck begins with knowing your core fear, replacing it with God’s truth and following through with your plan.  Time to move forward!

Love to you, Deborah
