In the hustle of summer activities, family responsibilities, and the ever-growing to-do list, it's easy to feel like there's no time left for yourself. But here's the truth: taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's biblical.
Jesus often withdrew from the crowds to rest and pray (Luke 5:16). He modeled what it looks like to step away and connect with the Father, showing us that rest, reflection, and refreshment are not optional but essential. If Jesus needed time to refuel, so do we.
So many women feel guilty taking time for themselves. We think it's noble to run on empty, but exhaustion isn’t a badge of honor. It’s a warning sign.
Self-care doesn’t mean bubble baths and spa days (although those can be lovely!). Real self-care includes spiritual, emotional, and physical wellness. It means:
- Spending time in prayer and the Word
- Eating nourishing meals
- Getting enough sleep
- Saying "no" to things that drain you
- Surrounding yourself with people who uplift you
When we take care of ourselves, we serve from overflow instead of depletion. That benefits everyone—your spouse, your kids, your ministry, and your calling.
3 Self-Care Steps to Start Today:
- Schedule Time With God: Even 10 minutes in the morning can realign your day.
- Honor Your Body: Drink water, take a walk, or choose rest over hustle.
- Set Healthy Boundaries: Protect your peace. Your "yes" should come from a full heart, not obligation.
Remember Jesus's words to us - "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28 (NLT)
