Creating Memories That Last a Lifetime
Dear Friend,
Summer isn't measured by the places we go, but by the people we become and the memories we create together.
Before our calendars become completely full, I'd like to encourage you to pause for just a moment.
Our days will soon be filled with baseball games, family cookouts, beach days, vacations, late-night conversations on the porch, ice cream with the grandchildren, evening walks hand in hand, and meals shared around the dinner table.
These ordinary moments often become the memories we treasure most.
Life moves faster than we realize. We never know which conversation, hug, prayer, or family meal will become someone's favorite memory.
So this summer...
Choose presence over perfection.
Put the phone down.
Laugh a little longer.
Pray together.
Take the picture.
Tell the story again.
Say, "I love you."
Forgive quickly.
Enjoy the gift God has given you today.
I've discovered that the most meaningful memories are often the quietest ones.
Some of the sweetest moments I've ever experienced with the Lord haven't happened in a crowded room or during a special event. They've happened around an ordinary table with an open Bible, a journal nearby, and a heart willing to hear His voice.
Those are the moments that have changed me.
Those are the moments that have shaped my marriage, strengthened my faith, comforted me through heartache, and reminded me that God is always faithful.
It is my prayer that every time you receive one of these letters, it feels less like opening another email and more like sitting across the table from a trusted friend.
No pressure.
No pretending.
No perfect answers.
Just you, me, God's Word, and the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit.
Together we'll celebrate answered prayers. We'll wrestle with difficult questions. We'll discover timeless truth in Scripture. We'll laugh together, perhaps shed a few tears together, and leave each conversation with a little more peace than when we arrived.
Because that's what happens when we slow down long enough to meet with Jesus.
An ordinary table becomes a sacred place.
An ordinary morning becomes holy.
And an ordinary life becomes extraordinary when surrendered to Him.
Before you rush into everything waiting for you today, stay here just a little while longer.
Take a deep breath.
Open your Bible.
Listen for His voice.
Write down what He whispers to your heart.
The greatest revelation you'll receive today won't come from my words.
It will come from His.
Thank you for allowing me to walk beside you on this journey. It is a privilege I never take for granted.
A Summer Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of this new season. Help us not become so busy making plans that we miss the precious moments You've placed right in front of us.
Teach us to be fully present with our spouses, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Fill our homes with laughter, our conversations with kindness, and our hearts with gratitude.
May this summer be marked by peace instead of pressure, connection instead of distraction, and joy instead of worry. Help us treasure today's moments, knowing they become tomorrow's cherished memories.
As we gather around tables, travel together, and enjoy the beauty of Your creation, may every moment draw us closer to You and to one another.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Want to keep it real?
Here are 3 easy-peasy Summer Declarations
- Today I choose to be fully present. I will cherish the people God has entrusted to me and treasure the moments we share together.
- I will make room for joy, laughter, meaningful conversations, and lasting memories. My greatest investment is in the relationships God has given me.
- This summer I will walk in gratitude, peace, and purpose. I trust God to bless my time, strengthen my relationships, and fill my heart with His presence.
Until next time...
Make room for what matters most.
Sit with someone you love.
Open God's Word.
Listen for His voice.
Create memories that point your heart back to Him.
With love, grace, and great expectation,
Dr. Deborah
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
P.S. This summer, make one intentional memory every week with someone you love. It doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate. The greatest memories are rarely planned, they're simply shared.
