Finding Peace on the Road to Bethlehem

Most of us don’t notice when peace leaves the room.
It slips out quietly—usually sometime between the morning rush and the late-night thoughts we can’t quite turn off. For many women—especially those carrying the weight of marriage, family, faith, and expectations—peace feels like something “other people” have time for.

But Advent tells a different story.

Advent whispers that peace isn’t something we chase…
It’s Someone who comes close.

And as we step into week two of our journey through The Road to Bethlehem, we discover that this ancient path is paved with moments where the Prince of Peace quietly reveals Himself—one day, one breath, one Scripture at a time.

This week, each day gives us a glimpse of peace in motion.
Peace that comes as a miracle.
Peace that takes the form of a promise.
Peace that sits quietly with us when our hearts are trembling.
Peace that reminds us, God is with us—especially in the places that feel too small, too messy, or too heavy to hold anything holy.

Let’s continue to walk the road together as we look at -

Miracle, Luke 1:30–31  Miracles rarely begin with calm.
They begin with disruption—like an angel showing up in the middle of an ordinary girl’s day and saying, “Don’t be afraid.”

Maybe that’s how miracles still show up - right in the middle of the moments we least expect, whispering "Don’t be afraid"; God is doing something new.

Immanuel, Isaiah 7:14 God-with-us.
Not God-above-us.
Not God-someday-for-us.
But God right here, in the tension, the questions, the waiting.

Salvation, Luke 2:20. The shepherds didn’t leave the manger the way they came.

They walked back into their everyday lives carrying something new - a peace that comes from knowing they have been rescued.

And salvation still changes the way we walk home.

Treasure, Luke 2:19 Mary didn’t rush past the moment.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is stop, breathe, and hold a moment like a gift.

Love, John 3:16 If peace had a heartbeat, it would sound like love.

Love is why He came. Peace is what He brought. And you—yes, you—are the one He came for.

Presence, Matthew 1:23 God’s presence is not something you earn; it’s something you receive.

His presence is peace. His nearness is the gift that steadies everything else.

Faith, Luke 2:8 Faith doesn’t remove fear; it redirects it.

Faith often looks like taking one small step when your knees feel weak.
But every step toward Jesus brings you deeper into peace.

Remember

Peace isn’t the absence of trouble.
Peace is the presence of Christ.

Let these seven days steady your steps, lift your eyes, and remind you that God is closer than you think—working miracles, drawing near, and weaving His love into every chapter of your story.

I’m honored to walk this road with you.

With grace,
Dr. Deborah
