In a world dominated by social media, it's easy to feel like you're falling behind. You see the perfectly posed family photos, the glowing career achievements, and the seemingly effortless happiness of others. But what happens when the camera is off? When your own life feels messy and uncelebrated? If we’re not careful, we can start to equate our worth with how many likes and comments we get—or don’t get.
But here's the truth: Your worth is not tied to the world's recognition. Dear heart, God sees every hidden act of kindness, every struggle you push through, and every effort you make in the quiet moments. Even when the world doesn’t see you, God does.
- God Sees What Others Don’t
In 1 Samuel 16:7, God reminds us that while people look at outward appearances, He looks at the heart. Social media may only capture the highlight reel, but God sees every part of your journey. He values the things you do in secret, the ways you serve without recognition, and the love you pour into others without expecting anything in return.
- Your Worth Is in Who You Are, Not What You Achieve
It’s easy to compare ourselves to the curated images of success online, but your worth has never been determined by what you achieve. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Your value comes from being God’s creation, His masterpiece. It’s not tied to the fleeting approval of others but rooted in who He created you to be.
- Celebrate the Quiet Moments
Some of the most meaningful moments of our lives happen when no one is watching. These are the times when we choose faith over fear, love over resentment, and hope over despair. God celebrates these moments, even when they go unseen by the world. The choices you make in private are often the ones that shape your character and your relationship with God the most.
"For we [you] are God’s masterpiece. He has created us [you] anew in Christ Jesus, so we [you] can do the good things he planned for us [you] long ago." — Ephesians 2:10
If you’re feeling unseen and uncelebrated, remember that God sees you. He values every part of who you are, not just the moments that are “Instagram-worthy.” You are worthy because you are His, and that is a truth that no amount of social media attention can change.
Let go of the need for the approval of others and rest in the fact that you are fully known and fully loved by God.
Let’s break free from comparison and embrace our worth in Christ.
your sister in Christ,
Deborah
