As the leaves turn and autumn settles in, we are reminded that every season points us back to God’s perfect design. Fall is a time of harvest, reflection, and preparation—a season when farmers gather what has been sown and families prepare for the colder months ahead. Spiritually, it mirrors the call for the Bride of Christ to prepare her heart for the soon return of Yeshua.
Marriage, too, has seasons. Before “I Do,” couples are in a time of planting—laying a foundation of faith, trust, and commitment that will carry them into their covenant. After “I Do,” couples enter into seasons of nurturing and renewal, learning to weather storms together, to celebrate the harvests, and to keep their love strong through every stage of life. Just as the Church must remain faithful and ready for her Bridegroom, husbands and wives must continually prepare their hearts for one another.
This autumn, let us pause and ask: Am I ready? Am I ready to meet my Savior with joy and confidence? Am I ready to honor my spouse by sowing seeds of love, forgiveness, and unity? Yeshua is calling us to live alert, to trim our lamps like the wise virgins in Matthew 25, and to be a prepared Bride—pure, steadfast, and filled with hope.
Marriage before and after “I Do” is not just about promises made once at the altar; it’s about daily preparation, choosing to reflect Christ’s covenant love, and living with the end in mind. Autumn reminds us that time is moving quickly, and the harvest is at hand. Let us live as people ready for the King, and let our marriages be a testimony that points others to Him.
I Do: Choose daily to prepare your heart for Christ and for your spouse.
I Don’t: Let the busyness of the season distract you from what matters most.
Devotional Prayer
Lord Yeshua, thank You for reminding us through the autumn season that You are coming soon. Teach us to prepare our hearts like a Bride waiting for her Bridegroom. Strengthen marriages—both before and after “I Do”—so that they reflect Your covenant love. May we walk in readiness, sowing seeds of forgiveness, unity, and devotion, and may our homes be a light pointing others to You. Amen.
